Founding of Eysins
None of the sources consulted says who founded the village or when. The area was occupied in Roman times: a villa, an aqueduct and a necropolis bear witness to this. In 1001/1002 King Rudolph III and the lords of the Kingdom of Burgundy sat in Eysins, the first mention of the place. From the 14th century until the Reformation the village depended on the Augustinian priory of Nyon; under Bernese rule it belonged to the bailiwick of Nyon and came under the court of justice (castellany) of Nyon.
