Name origin: not explained by the sources consulted. The locality is also called «La Croix-sur-Lutry»; its official postal address is «1090 La Croix (Lutry)».
Founding of La Croix (Lutry)
La Croix is not a municipality: it is a locality of the municipality of Lutry, in the district of Lavaux-Oron. No founding act is known. The history of Lutry lists it among the many hamlets of the municipality, notably with Savuit, Le Châtelard, Corsy, La Conversion, Bossières and Le Miroir. It is described as a former village that has merged with the town, and appears, paired with Bossières, in the official list of Lutry's localities. A photograph dated 1900 shows a bakery and the post office there. Since 2004, La Croix has been home to the La Croix school.
History of La Croix (Lutry)

1993. On 9 July, adoption of the partial land-use plan «Le Miroir» (amended on 23 May 2001), which allocates the school grounds of La Croix.
2004. On 29 and 30 October, the La Croix school is inaugurated; Lutry's school establishment then has 39 classes. A basketball court above the gymnasium opens the same year.
2008. On 1 January, Lutry, and with it La Croix, joins the new district of Lavaux-Oron (law on territorial division in force since 1 September 2006).
2013. The Municipality of Lutry proposes building a school pavilion at La Croix-sur-Lutry (proposal no. 1196 of 28 October 2013).

La Croix school. School inaugurated on 29 and 30 October 2004, complemented by a gymnasium, a basketball court (2004) and a planned school pavilion (2013).
La Croix crossroads. Road junction in the upper part of Lutry: a footpath leads here from the old town via Les Brûlées in 1 h 15 min, and buses from Lausanne and Lutry stop here.
